A new boundary layer integral method based on the universal velocity profile

چکیده

A recently developed mixing length model of the turbulent shearing stress in wall bounded flows has been used to formulate a universal velocity profile (UVP) that provides an effective replacement for widely Coles wall-wake formulation. Comparisons with both direct numerical simulation and experimental data demonstrate ability approximate wide variety wall-bounded flows. The UVP is uniformly valid from boundary layer edge all Reynolds numbers zero infinity. There no presumption logarithmic dependence outside viscous so can accurately low number layers. effect pressure gradient included through introduction modified Clauser parameter correlates well parameters determine wake portion profile. inherent on number, extended include gradient, enables it be as basis new method integrating von Kármán integral equation attached To illustrate its application, zero-lift drag coefficient Joukowsky 0012 NACA (National Advisory Committee Aeronautics) airfoils over range chord numbers.

Unsteady boundary layer flow of a Casson fluid past a wedge with wall slip velocity

In this paper an analysis is presented to understand the effect of non–Newtonian rheology, velocity slip at the boundary, thermal radiation, heat absorption/generation and first order chemical reaction on unsteady MHD mixed convective heat and mass transfer of Casson fluid past a wedge in the presence of a transverse magnetic field with variable electrical conductivity. The partial differential...

A hybrid method for singularly perturbed delay boundary value problems exhibiting a right boundary layer

The aim of this paper is to present a numerical method for singularly perturbed convection-diffusion problems with a delay. The method is a combination of the asymptotic expansion technique and the reproducing kernel method (RKM). First an asymptotic expansion for the solution of the given singularly perturbed delayed boundary value problem is constructed. Then the reduced regular delayed diffe...

Debate Concerning the Mean-Velocity Profile of a Turbulent Boundary Layer

There has been considerable controversy during the past few years concerning the validity of the classical log law that describes the overlap region of the mean-velocity profile in the canonical turbulent boundary layer. Alternative power laws have been proposed by Barenblatt, Chorin, George, and Castillo, to name just a few. Advocates of either law typically have used selected data sets to fos...

On the collocation method for a nonlinear boundary integral equation

In this paper we study a potential problem with a nonlinear boundary condition. Using the Green representation formula for a harmonic function we reformulate the nonlinear boundary value problem as a nonlinear boundary integral equation. We shall give a brief discussion of the solvability of the integral equation. The aim of this paper, however, is to analyse the collocation method for finding ...
